Cookie Policy

Version 1.0 · Effective date: 2025

Short summary: We use only essential cookies and browser storage required for the platform to function. We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies. No third-party cookies are set by us.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to website owners.

In addition to cookies, we also use localStorage — a browser storage mechanism that stores data locally on your device. Like cookies, it remains on your device between sessions unless cleared.

2. Cookies and Storage We Use

Name / KeyTypePurposeExpires
sb-[project]-auth-token Essential Supabase authentication session token. Keeps you logged in. 1 hour (auto-refreshed while active; cleared on logout)
sb-[project]-auth-token-code-verifier Essential PKCE code verifier used during the authentication flow for security. Session (cleared after login completes)
em_dismissed_wrong_[userId] (localStorage) Essential Stores question IDs you have manually removed from your "wrong questions" list. Persistent (until you clear browser data)
em_copyright_modal_[userId] (localStorage) Essential Records whether you have seen and acknowledged the copyright notice on first login. Persistent (set once, never expires)

3. What We Do NOT Use

We do not use:

  • Advertising or marketing cookies
  • Third-party analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Pixel)
  • Social media tracking cookies
  • Behavioural profiling cookies
  • Cross-site tracking of any kind

4. Essential Cookies and Your Consent

The cookies and localStorage items listed above are strictly necessary for the platform to function. Without them, you cannot log in, access content, or use any platform features.

Under applicable law, strictly necessary cookies do not require your prior consent. However, we disclose them here in the interest of full transparency.

By creating an account and using the platform, you acknowledge the use of these essential cookies and storage items as described in this policy.

5. Device Fingerprinting

In addition to cookies, we use a device fingerprinting technique for security purposes. This generates an anonymous identifier based on your browser and device characteristics (such as screen resolution, browser type, and installed fonts). It does not include your IP address or geographic location.

This fingerprint is stored securely in our database and used only to detect unusual multi-device access patterns that may indicate credential sharing. It is automatically deleted after 90 days. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling the essential cookies listed above will prevent you from logging in or using the platform.

Instructions for managing cookies in common browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

To clear localStorage, open your browser's developer tools → Application → Local Storage, and delete the relevant keys. Alternatively, logging out of the platform will clear your session token.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we introduce any new cookies or storage mechanisms, we will update this policy and notify you by email. Non-essential cookies (if ever introduced) will always be opt-in, requiring your explicit consent.

8. Contact
